How to Commission a Portrait

Finding a Reference Picture

The first and most important step to commissioning a portrait of your pet is to find a quality reference picture. The better the quality, specifically the lighting, the better the commission will turn out. If you want to use a lower quality photo for the pose I would suggest sending additional photos to supplement the main reference.

The reference photo should have the pet in the position you want drawn. If the picture that shows the pose you want is blurry or has deep shadows that obscure detail you can send additional photos to fill in the gaps. Below is a picture that has bad lighting. The majority of the face is hidden in deep shadow.

Include the medium you want the portrait done in and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Check the home page to see if I'm currently accepting new commissions. If not you can request to be notified when I start accepting requests again.
